Matt Shultz, Cage the Elephant Singer, Arrested on Weapons Charges
Matt Shultz, the lead singer of the band indie Cage the Elephant, was taken into custody in an Manhattan hotel Thursday, based on weapons charges, officials from law enforcement confirmed.

The suspect, identified as Mr. Shultz, 39, was detained early on Thursday morning, after an Bowery Hotel employee had seen him take a gun out of his pocket inside one of hotel's toilets, as per an indictment filed by the criminal justice department.

The victim, Mr. Shultz, of Nashville appeared drunk according to Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

The police officers picked up a 911 request and obtained a search warrant and located two firearms that were loaded including one a .45-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol and the .45-caliber Sig Sauer pistol -inside a bag located in Mr. Shultz's hotel room according to court documents and the office of the prosecutor.

The officers also discovered eleven Polaroid images of the firearms, with some showing an individual pointing at the guns, as well as six notes written by hand that the prosecutor's office stated. One of the notes reads in essence, "I will defend myself if I am attacked," according to the office of the prosecutor.
