Adam Rich, a former child actor who appeared in the popular television show "Eight Is Enough," died on the weekend inside his house at Los Angeles. He was 54.
Danny Deraney, Mr. Rich's publicist confirmed the death of Mr. Rich's publicist, Danny Deraney. On its website The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner and Coroner did not immediately provide a cause.
Mr. Deraney said that the Mr. Rich as "kind, generous and a warrior in the fight against mental illness."
"He was selfless and always had a smile for the people whom he was concerned about. That's why many who were raised by him feel like a piece of their childhood has gone and even sad," Mr. Deraney said. "He really was America's Little Brother."
Between 1977 and 1981, Mr. Rich starred in the cult television show "Eight Is Enough," an uplifting show that focused on the lives of a family of eight children which was telecast in ABC during five consecutive seasons. He was Nicholas Bradford, the youngest son, and was famous for his shiny pageboy hairstyle.
The show, which took place in Sacramento and inspired by a memoir written from Tom Braden, dealt with family drama , such as the death of a parent the remarriage of a sibling and tensions between siblings.
Adam Rich was born on October. 12th, 1968 located in Brooklyn, N.Y., according to his IMDb page. He was a student of the art of acting in Chatsworth High School in California's San Fernando Valley.
The man. Rich was not married and had no children Mr. Deraney claimed.
Mr. Rich began acting as young and was a part of 1976 in the TV program "The Six Million Dollar Man," according to IMDb. He also appeared in other television shows, like "The Love Boat," "Fantasy Island," "Chip's," "St. Elsewhere" and "Silver Spoons."
The 1980s saw him was a guest in television shows like "Code Red" and "Dungeons and Dragons."
He tried treatment for his addiction to drugs. He was detained for burglarizing an California pharmacy. The actor Dick Van Patten, who played the role of Mr. Rich's father on "Eight Is Enough," was able to bail the actor out of jail, The Orlando Sentinel reported.
